5 Lifestyle Changes That Will Benefit You And The Environment

Environment
The New Year is just around the corner and this is usually the time when people like to make resolutions, although, it’s mostly personal goals. Why not change things up a bit and consider making some lifestyle resolutions instead? You don’t have to do all of the things in this list, although that would be great, but even if you take on just one you’ll definitely see how much difference it can make in your life.

1.      Embrace Minimalism
Embracing a minimalist lifestyle in the face of television commercials, product placements, online advertising and so much more is really, really challenging. I think the hardest time of year is the holiday season, when everyone is shopping until dropping. But once the holiday frenzy is over, take a pause and really think about where you are spending your money, the impact it has on the planet, and how you can make changes.

There are lots of ways to embrace minimalism: maybe it starts with your wardrobe, maybe it starts with your digital life, and maybe it starts with cleaning out the garage. However you start, know that embracing a more minimalist lifestyle can be really helpful to inspiring more conscious consumerism and better purchases.
2.      Take Care Of Your Appliances
It would be amazing if you can replace all your appliances with those energy-efficient ones. However, it’s still best if you can get the most out of your current appliances. This is why it’s important that you maintain them properly because your appliances all need a helping hand to make them run more efficiently and extend their lifespan. Not only does appliance optimization save you the headache of broken down appliances, it can save you money too!

3.      Initiate Energy Efficiency Upgrade
Taking steps to be more energy efficient in your home like slowly switching to energy efficient appliances and devices and remembering to unplug all the time is great. But if you have the option to purchase renewable energy, that’s even better! Since they generate energy without releasing carbon emissions, which is better for the environment than traditional fuel sources, they’re also better for human kind in the long run.

You don’t have to settle with an electricity supplier here in Singapore that doesn’t meet your needs and money’s worth when you can always find a better one with the help of BillCheap. All you have to do is type in how much energy you use and your average monthly bill, and then you’ll be able to compare energy deals from different provider in order to get the best on for you.
4.      Try Carpooling And Biking More
Air pollution nowadays have become so alarming, especially in industrialized area. What you can do to lessen or not participate in that is opt for fuel-efficient car. A car that uses less gas at least makes less emission and helps the fuel economy. But for those who truly wanna push the organic lifestyle further, then drive less. Use your bicycle if it’s just around the corner (this even makes a sneaky way to exercise), use public transportation, or walk if your house is just a couple of blocks away from your work

Carpooling is another great way to conserve energy, save money, and help the environment. But whether you like carpooling because you prefer riding with people you know or you simply can’t stand the hassle of commuting, don’t ditch it until you tried it. I know you would prefer driving your car most of the time but doing this once in awhile can be fun and great for the environment.

5.      Resolve To Use Less Plastic

Plastic is an amazing invention, but we use so much of them without knowing how to dispose them properly or limit the usage. So they often end up in landfills when they’re not even biodegradable. If you cannot avoid using them, you should at least limit it. There are so much trash already, let’s try not to contribute to that. Reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics, or better yet ditch them and opt for reusable cloth bags instead.
